 In June of 2007 Pend Oreille County was awarded a grant from the Dept. of Ecology to update the County's Shoreline Master Program. It is very important to have public involvement of this process. This website will be used as a repository for:

Local Adoption Schedule
The following is a brief summary of the schedule and steps for the adoption of the updated Pend Oreille County Shoreline Master Program. Please note that all dates are esitmates and subject to change. Please check the County website for the Shoreline Master Program at http://www.pendoreilleco.org/county/shoreline_master_program_update.asp or call the Community Development Department at 509-447-6457 for the most recent information on deadlines for public comments as well as the dates, times and locations of upcoming meetings.
Nov. 1, 2011 Planning Commission forwards Draft Shoreline Master Program to Board of County Commissioners with recommendations to initiate the formal review and comment process prior to local adoption.
Nov. 23, 2011 Target date for start of 60 day public review and comment process by the Board of County Commissioners.
Mar. 16, 2012 Estimated completion date of public review and comment process
Mar. 16 - May 1, 2012 Board of County Commissioners review public comments and consider revisions to Draft Shoreline Master Program.
May 9, 2012 Target date for start of 2nd 60 day public review and comment process by the Board of County Commissioners. This will be an opportunity for the public to review the County Commissioner's Revised Draft SMP.
July 24, 2012 Estimated date of the SMP update formal public hearing in the County Commissioner's Chambers.
July 31, 2012 Estimated date of Local Adoption by Board of County Commissioners
August 10, 2012 Estimated date of transmittal of locally adopted Shoreline Master Program to Ecology for final State Agency review and approval.
December 31, 2012 Estimated date of Ecology approval and effective date of revised Shoreline Master Program.
