You can recycle any of the following items at all 3 Transfer Stations unless noted otherwise:

    Aluminum Cans - separate and rinse out  (In Ione only, please bag aluminum cans) 

     Cell Phones & Rechargeable Batteries - only rechargeable type batteries 

      Corrugated cardboard two-ply cardboard, the one with ridges.  No waxed or plastic corrugated boxes or single-ply chipboard such as cereal boxes, paper towel cores, TP cores, or egg cartons. 

    Electronics Recycling - Only Computers, CPU's, Towers, Laptops, Computer Monitors, E-readers and Televisions are accepted.  But no broken glass on monitors or TV's.  Please put keyboards, mice, printers, copiers and scanners in with your garbage. (View E-Cycle brochure in right-hand column)

    NO MORE RECYCLING OF LATEX paint - LATEX paint is no longer accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste building for recycling.  All LATEX paint brought to any transfer station must be dried out, or solidified or hardened in the can before disposal with your regular garbage.  Remove the lids when you dispose of LATEX paint; attendant must visually see that LATEX paint is not a liquid. (View "Latex Paint Disposal" in right-hand column)   

      Paper, newspaper, magazines, books, WHITE office paper (shredded, okay) & catalogs

  •       Remove hard covers from books and tear catalogs into thinner sections
  •       No paper contaminated with food, paints or cleaning solvents are accepted
  •       No wet paper accepted
  •       No colored paper accepted (ie red, yellow, brown, blue paper)    
  •       No paper still  in plastic bags
  •       No paper tied with strings
  •       No telephone books-unless all yellow pages removed & torn into thinner sections   

     Plastic bags, the bag color, outside or inside, does not matter but everything listed below must be empty, clean and dry before recycling at the transfer station or at a bag collection box in a County building.

         ACCEPTABLE PLASTIC BAGS FOR RECYCLING:

  1. Bubble wrap
  2. Cereal box liners
  3. Dry cleaner bags
  4. Ice or pellet bags
  5. Plastic bags over some magazines    
  6. Plastic bag sleeves over newspapers
  7. Plastic bread bags
  8. Plastic department store or grocery bags
  9. Plastic overwrap on paper towels, TP or other multi packs
  10. Plastic produce bags
  11. Polyethylene films labeled 2 or 4
  12. S-t-r-e-t-c-h film wrap BUT no SARAN wrap
  13. Zip-lock bags and other styles of plastic storage bags 

      Scrap Metal - must be at least 80% metal

      Tin/Steel Cans - food & drink cans; rinse out, remove labels & drop in metal bin
