Adult Felony Convictions

Adults that have been convicted of a crime in the Superior Court could have been assessed court costs and restitution where court ordered.

When an order is entered interest is assessed on a monthly basis. The Financial Collections Officer will be able to advise you what the current interest rate would be at the time of the order.

Monthly payments are required and are set either by the court, Department of Corrections, or by the Financial Collections Officer.

Juvenile Convictions

Juveniles that have been convicted of a crime may have been assessed court costs and restitution.

Monthly payments are required and are set either by the court, Juvenile Probation Officer, or by the Financial Collections Officer. The juvenile offender could be brought back before the court for a violation process. The court retains jurisdiction and may collect on the judgment until the age of 28.

Parent Pay

Parents of juveniles going through the Juvenile Justice system may be liable for attorney costs and detention costs based on RCW 13.40.145 and RCW 13.16.085. Pend Oreille County assesses these costs on a sliding scale based on the ability to pay in the household. These are determined by a Financial Affidavit that is to be completed and returned prior to sentencing.

Once costs have been assessed, payments are to commence within 30 days unless a payment plan has been worked out with the Financial Collections Officer.
